college counseling

College counseling is not just about helping students gain admission to college. I see it  as a process of guiding young adults in a journey to clarify their sense of purpose, values, and direction. Through structured coursework and exposure to current admission trends, my goal is to deepen my understanding of how to align each student’s strengths and interests with the right academic environment. This knowledge will enhance my ability to offer personalized, informed guidance that carefully considers clients learning profiles, financial realities, and long-term goals.

As an educational therapist, I help students navigate the challenges of learning differences, self-doubt, anxiety, and academic transitions. Working with students in high school, I realize that their challenges extend beyond the classroom. Many are overwhelmed by the college admissions process—a complicated, often inequitable system that demands not only outstanding academic competence but also emotional resilience and complex decision-making skills. These demands can be especially daunting for my clients that have exceptional cognitive strengths coupled with significant learning differences. For the last ten years of my career, my role as educational therapist has morphed into college counsellor as well. While I have always been willing to support my clients in any of their academic endeavours, I have found that supporting them in the college application journey brings me profound professional satisfaction.

As an educator, I want to enable my students not only to gain admission to an institution that they are proud of, but to thrive—academically, socially, and personally—once they arrive on campus.
